Never confuse the person, formed in the image of God, with the evil that is in him: because evil is but a chance misfortune, an illness, a devilish attack. But the very essence of the person is the image of God, and this remains in him despite every disfigurement.

Dormition of the Virgin Mary

On Sunday, August 15th, the Mission celebrated the Dormition of Virgin Mary, which commemorates her death, burial, and resurrection, following the footsteps of her Divine Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.

It was a special celebration this year as the feast fell upon a Sunday. Among the many visitors which packed the church, we welcomed Protodeacon Gregory Moser, who assisted with the Divine Services. At the conclusion of the Liturgy, the faithful received blessed flowers as a reminder of the beauty and sweet fragrance of the feast.

Below are photo galleries from the Great Vespers with Litiya, served on Saturday evening, and the Divine Liturgy with Blessing of Flowers, served on Sunday morning.

We extend to you all our greetings on this joyous feastday!
