Spiritual Retreat: "The Treasures of Ancient Christianity"

On the weekend of September 6-7, 2014, Christ the Savior Mission hosted a spiritual retreat entitled, "The Treasures of Ancient Christianity".

His Beatitude Metropolitan TIKHON led the retreat, offering a lecture and question/answer period on the shared riches of the 1st millennium of Christianity.

The Synodal Youth Choir, under the directorship of Alexander Cooley, performed a concert with hymns from the ancient Liturgy of the Church as well as sang the responses during the divine services.

The retreat was combined with the Diocesan Day for the Archdiocese of Washington, and we were very pleased to welcome many clergy and faithful who travel out to the mission.  We express our thanks to them all as well as all our visitors from near and far for coming to the retreat.

In addition to the lecture, concert, question/answer session, and divine services, there was a barbeque and lamb roast, fellowship, swimming, and activities for children.

On Sunday, during the Divine Liturgy, His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon enrolled Michelle Miller into the catechumenate as the first step to sacramental reception into the Orthodox Church.  We ask the Lord's continued blessings upon Michelle as well as her entire family!

We give thanks to Almighty God, Metropolitan Tikhon, Protodeacon Joseph, Subdeacon Roman Ostash, the Synodal Youth Choir and all those who worked together with Him to make such a blessed weekend possible!
